I’ve wanted to answer this for question for some time, but wanted the question to ‘develop’ in my mind for a bit before setting out my answer. (It’s gonna be long so make yourself a cuppa!)
To be honest, I’d never heard of Jason Brennan until I saw this question and I read a few of his articles to get the gist of his argument.
